EMCOR Group Safety Excellence Award - Mechanical Services Company

tech.jpgEMCOR Services Scalise Industries (Scalise) earned a 2021 EMCOR Group, Inc. Safety Excellence Award by consistently adhering to safety protocol, guided by extensive training and diligent documentation.

Valuing employees as their most important asset, Scalise invests in immediate and continual training. Every new hire’s safety orientation includes OSHA 10 training, as well as instruction on incident reporting, EMCOR Group, Inc. policies, and EMCOR Building Services’ safety requirements.

The company also offers training in aerial lift and forklift operation, NFPA 70E, and defensive driving. Weekly toolbox talks are led by foremen, technicians, and managers and are documented in company records.

The safety committee meets monthly, led by four executive managers, two trade managers, and two service managers. This leadership team writes the company’s illness and injury prevention program. It also establishes corporate safety goals and maintain a strategic plan to meet them.

Construction foremen and service technicians submit daily pre-task plans via digital forms to relevant managers for review and comment. The Safety Director and trade managers conduct jobsite inspections to observe positive actions, and address safety deficiencies. Field Safety Audits are also submitted digitally to upper management.

To further encourage safety excellence, an employee incentive program recognizes accomplishments in alignment with the corporate safety focus.

The company has also created an “Incident with Personal Injury Reporting Procedures” document that outlines steps for handling injuries in three scenarios: life-threatening, serious, and non-serious. The document can be accessed via the QR decal on employee hard hats.

It’s clear that Scalise’s dedication to training, documentation, and consistency continues to enhance the safety of their entire team.
